Publish a curated reading list
Turn what you know into a reading path others can follow, with your notes and your name on it.
The best reading lists aren't just links — they're opinionated: what to read first, what to skip, and why each piece matters. Here's how to publish one.
#1. Set up your curator profile
- Open profile settings
Settings → Your curator profile → Edit public profile →.
- Pick a username
Your profile will be at
readingtrack.com/u/username. - Write a one-line bio
Say who you are and what you curate, e.g. “Backend engineer. Lists on distributed systems and on-call.”
- Turn on discoverability
So your public lists can appear in Discover.
#2. Build the list
- Create it
Reading Lists → Create a reading list. Give it a specific name (“Distributed systems: the 12 papers that matter”), a description of who it's for, and a few topics.
- Add sections
Break it into stages, like Foundations, Consensus, Real systems.
- Add and order the reads
Use the up/down controls to set the order you'd recommend.
- Write creator notes
For each item, a sentence or two: why it's here, what to look for, what to skim.
#3. Preview and publish
- Preview
Open the public-page preview and read it as a newcomer would.
- Set visibility
Choose Unlisted to share with a few people first, or Public to make it searchable.
- Share
Copy the link. On social media it shows a preview card with your list's title and description.
Visitors see the list, your notes and your profile. They never see your library, progress or highlights.
#4. Keep it alive
People who save your list see your updates automatically. Add new pieces as you find them and prune ones that have aged.
